LANSAR® - Product Summary
LANSAR® systems from AccSys Technology, Inc. are powerful
neutron sources based on compact ion linear accelerators
(linacs). The ability to choose from among several
possible combinations of beams and targets provides a
wide range of output neutron yields and energy spectra.
Yields at the target range from 108
neutrons/second from the compact Model DL-1 system to
more than to 1013 neutrons/second from the
powerful Model PL-11. LANSAR® systems are
capable of operating in harsh environments and are
ideally suited for many neutron applications in
non-destructive testing.
LANSAR® Units for Neutron Radiography
LANSAR® neutron generators can replace
conventional neutron sources for applications ranging
from corrosion detection in aircraft structures to void
detection in munitions. AccSys systems have been used
for both fast neutron and resonant neutron radioscopy.
Rather than transporting components to a reactor for
inspection in applications such as examination of epoxy
bonds covered by metals, high resolution radioscopy can
now be performed at the factory or assembly site.
LANSAR® Systems for Neutron Analysis
LANSAR® neutron generators have demonstrated their
utility as fast or thermal neutron sources in
applications as diverse as radioactive waste assay,
contraband detection, mineral assay and neutron gauging.
LANSAR® Generators for Medical Use of
Neutrons
LANSAR® neutron generators can provide fast,
epithermal, or thermal neutron beams for medical
applications such as boron neutron capture therapy
(BNCT).
LANSAR® System Features and Advantages
LANSAR® units contain no radioactive material.
Minimum target and beam degradation over years of
operation results in a long lifetime at full neutron
output intensity. The neutron production target can be
located far away from the accelerator which reduces
moderator and shielding requirements. Full AC power is
required only during operation resulting in low power
consumption. Service and maintenance can be performed at
the installation site resulting in lower operating and
repair costs than other neutron generators. LANSAR®
units are easy to operate and maintain, featuring
modular construction and computer control with
self-diagnostics.
LANSAR® systems
are rugged and transportable with external power
supplies and no moving parts in the accelerator. The
light weight and compact size of these rugged and
efficient accelerators make them easily transportable.
The modular design allows flexibility for installation
in any facility. For all of their advanced features,
AccSys ion linacs provide the benefits of simplified
operation, easy maintenance and low operating cost.
