First PULSAR™ 7 PET Isotope Production System in US Shipped

PLEASANTON, Calif., February 29, 2008

AccSys Technology, Inc. of Pleasanton, California, today announced that the company’s first PULSAR™ 7 PET Isotope Production System in US region has passed the Factory Acceptance Test and shipped to the Advance Medical Isotope Corporation (AMIC) of Kennewick, Washington for the supply of short-lived radiopharmaceuticals primarily used in Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging applications, as well as for other medical isotopes utilized for diagnostic imaging and for therapeutic applications.

AccSys Technology’s PULSAR™ product line represents a new generation of positron radiotracer production accelerators based on advanced linac and rf power technology. The PULSAR™ Model 7 is a compact proton linac based on proven rf ion linac technology. Its modest 7.0 MeV energy and high proton beam current combine to give outstanding performance in a lightweight, compact package. In addition to providing higher F-18 production yields with a single target than any compact cyclotron system on the market, a PULSAR™ system can be installed in virtually any existing space and doesn’t require an expensive facility with extensive shielding as with a cyclotron.

Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation is engaged in the development of advanced production systems and processes for bringing previously unavailable medical isotopes to the marketplace and advancing systems for local product production. The field of nuclear medicine has routinely utilized radioisotopes in the diagnosis of disease while new processes are being pioneered for the targeted treatment of diseases such as cancer in preference to surgical techniques. Advanced Medical Isotope Corporation products support the accessibility to these less invasive therapeutic processes by advancing systems for lower cost production and improving supply availability of medical isotopes to hospitals and clinical treatment centers.
